I really, REALLY enjoyed reading this wonderful story. Justin and Chris made such a fantastic couple, and Justin's ex, Todd, was absolutely hilarious! His stunt at the fight club was a classic "pride goeth before a fall" kind of moment that left me laughing until I cried. Kudos to the author, and I'm eagerly waiting for the next book release.

Chris and Justin were best friends, until Justin moved away. 10 years later Chris gets an email from Justin. Chris has never forgotten his first love and wants to reconnect with Justin. Justin is in an abusive relationship and wants out, and then he spies Chris. They meet up and feelings are rekindled. The end right? Well Chris is unknowingly being targeted by someone. And Justin's ex is still in the picture? Can Chris show Justin that he loves him? This is a wonderful love story!!! I fell in love with both men, and felt their story really connected with me. I recommend this book!

Hawk v Falcon is a second chance romance and that thrilled me since that is one of my favorite tropes! This story is wonderfully sexy without being over the top but that is not all it is.
Chris and Justin connect in a super charged way. The game of cat and mouse with these two is fantastic. Though it's charged, it's like the refreshing rush you feel with a static charge. I hope that makes sense. They felt on the cusp of exploding and that made their moment just right.
Elodie Parkes is unique in her writing because she really makes her readers work for that HEA. You're not 40% into the book and they are all lovey dovey and you have to endure fluff for the next 60% of the time. No no no! That's not how this works.
This became a very emotional book. Justin's past is utterly heartbreaking and the last decade hasn't been easy for him. Now, after all that; Justin's crazy ex-boyfriend is hellbent on removing Chris from Justin's life. I told you it wouldn't be easy.
This is a suspenseful, emotional, love story. Elodie Parkes truly knocked it out of the park in all the areas here. I recommend this book completely!
Where’s my extra half a star when I need it? I really enjoyed this quick paced book, and loved reading about Chris and Justin’s second chance to be together. Finally reunited after years apart, the Candy Apple’s Dungeon Master, Chris, finds himself tumbling headlong back into love with Justin, who won his heart when they were young and never let it go. There’s a joy that radiates between these two as they pick up where they left off that’s fun to read, and although Justin’s lingering insecurity from his past relationship was painful, there’s a vibrancy to him that quickly resurfaces once he can be open about the circumstances that brought him to this point. As his confidence blossoms, I couldn’t resist the connection between these two men, it’s sexy and playful and there’s a beautiful sense of gratitude that they’ve finally found their missing piece in each other. Todd, Justin’s unbalanced ex, has some sort of comic book villain image of his own fierceness, and I found myself laughing out loud when he makes his big move to intimidate Chris, who isn’t going to let go of Justin now that he has him back. I can’t wait to see if there’s more coming in this series, it never fails to entertain…

I don't know about surprise at the Candy Apple but this certainly surprised me. I wasn't too sure what to expect from reading the title? it didn't give that much away but I was delighted to find it was a second chance romance, one of my secret favourites. My romantic side loves the idea of lost love never really lost but hibernating until it's found again and Chris and Justin were lucky enough to come out of hibernation and find it again.
There’s nothing quite like making up for lost time in the bedroom department when you have been separated for a long time and though my wonderful Chris never pushed hard, waited until Justin was ready, Elodie Parkes capitalised on that in a big way (pun intended)!
Her love scenes were not only sizzling hot but beautifully written, showing the caring side of Chris even in very heated situations.
Chris and Justin get back together after a 10 year separation from each other. Justin just disappeared from Chris’s life, but Chris never forgot Justin, no man ever lived up to Justin in Chris’s mind and he’s become lonely because of it. When reunited, Chris knows instantly that it’s love for him, not instant love because his love for Justin never went away.
But this is Elodie Parkes here. Simple love stories are not her style, she always takes the difficult route (which is why I love her books) with many obstacles to overcome before we get our HEA. In this case, it's Justin’s story. How what happened 10 years ago took away his options and dictated why he is the man he is today. Yes, the tears fell and yes, my heart broke, so please read the blurb carefully, the warning triggers are there.
But that’s not the only baggage that Justin is carrying. His psycho ex-boyfriend is exactly that…psycho! and wants Chris out of Justin’s life.
Now I love a good psycho. But this is where I thought the author didn't capitalise enough. At first, the ex sent shivers down my spine but the shivers went to giggles nearer the end of the book, which is such a great shame, I wanted the big explosion between Chris and psycho but it was unrealistic and more of a damp sparkler.
I said before that I love Elodie Parkes easy, sexy style of writing and I stand by that. I've set her benchmark high because she writes great, riveting storylines and yes, it was all of things but just lost the Big Bang I was expecting, so it's 4* from me. Really looking forward to see what she has in store for us next time at the Candy Apple.
